Bayswater Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Bayswater Man and Van is taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that the transport, logistics and moving services sector can be exposed to labour risks, and we are committed to conducting our business in an ethical, transparent and responsible manner.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Bayswater Man and Van has a clear zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour and exploitation. We will not knowingly work with any individual, contractor, agency, or supplier that is involved in such practices. This commitment applies to all aspects of our business, including the recruitment, employment and treatment of our own workers and the way we select and manage our suppliers and partners.
All managers are responsible for promoting and upholding this policy, and everyone working for or on behalf of Bayswater Man and Van is expected to act in line with our values of respect, fairness, and integrity.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain primarily includes vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, packaging and equipment suppliers, and labour and recruitment agencies. We aim to build long-term, transparent relationships with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical conduct.
To manage the risk of modern slavery, we are strengthening our due diligence processes for both new and existing suppliers. This includes:
Requiring suppliers to confirm compliance with all relevant labour, employment and human rights legislation.
Assessing suppliers based on their policies, processes and track record on labour standards and worker welfare.
Reserving the right to conduct audits or request evidence of compliance where we identify a higher risk of modern slavery.
Taking appropriate action, including ending relationships, where suppliers fail to meet our standards or refuse to address identified concerns.
We recognise that auditing alone cannot eliminate all risk, and we are committed to continuous improvement in how we assess and monitor our supply chain.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Bayswater Man and Van encourages anyone connected to our operations, including employees, agency workers, contractors, drivers, and suppliers, to raise concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking or exploitative practices. We will take all reports seriously and handle them sensitively.
Concerns can be raised directly with a line manager, senior manager or owner of Bayswater Man and Van, or through any existing internal reporting routes. We also encourage workers to speak with trusted representatives where applicable. Reports can be made confidentially, and we will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Where there is reason to believe criminal activity may be involved, we will cooperate fully with the relevant authorities and support appropriate investigations.
Training, Awareness and Responsibilities
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks within our business. Managers involved in recruitment, supplier selection and day-to-day operations are expected to understand the indicators of exploitation and to escalate concerns promptly.
Responsibilities for implementing this Statement sit with the senior management of Bayswater Man and Van, who ensure that our approach is integrated into our operational and procurement practices.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
Bayswater Man and Van is committed to reviewing and improving our approach to tackling modern slavery. This Statement and the related internal procedures will be reviewed at least once every year, or sooner if there are significant changes in legislation, guidance or our business activities.
The annual review will consider the effectiveness of our due diligence, the outcome of any audits or investigations, feedback from workers and suppliers, and any reported concerns. Where gaps or opportunities for improvement are identified, we will update our policies, training and supplier requirements accordingly.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the management of Bayswater Man and Van and reflects our ongoing commitment to act ethically, to respect human rights, and to work towards the elimination of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
